Local small businesses across the South West are gearing up to take their share of a much-needed Christmas boost, as new data predicts the UK could spend £5.3 billion with small firms over the festive period, delivering critical end-of-year gains for this vital segment of the economy.

Man charged with murder after woman's body discovered in Exeter

The woman whose body was discovered in a property on Alphington Road in Exeter on Wednesday 10 January 2018 has been formally identified.

The body of Geraldine Mallor, 32, from Exeter, was located by Ambulance Services who informed police. Her next of kin have been informed.

Darrell Rose, a 36-year-old man from Exeter, has been charged with murder and will appear before Exeter Crown Court on Monday 15 January 2018.

The new year finds a new front of house manager at Ottery St Mary coffee shop, Tickety-Boo.

Popular front of house regular Cheryl Mabin moved into the role after Zoe Blackmore decided to pursue a different vocation.

Cheryl has been working at Tickety-Boo for over 16 months, almost since the coffee shop opened. Previously she worked in customer service at Tufnells, with 14 years at The Disney Store and a stint at children’s playzone Wacky Warehouse.

A377 in Crediton to be closed for a month

The A377 between Queen Elizabeth Drive and Higher Road Crediton is to be closed for foutr weks in order to stabilise the carriageway edge and resurface a cracked section of road.

The scheme is due to commence on 15 January 2018 and will continue for approximately a month (weather dependent). The road will be closed 24hrs a day but could be re-opened sooner subject to favourable conditions.

More than £60,000 has been invested in new technology and audio-visual facilities at Exeter’s Sandy Park in a bid to make the venue the most technologically advanced in the region.
