Exeter Racecourse hosted its first networking event of the year with a sell-out gathering that was buzzing with enthusiasm, as businesses from across the region came together full of optimism for the year ahead. Delegates enjoyed a productive morning of networking, followed by afternoon racing.

The awards ceremony for the Outstanding Care Awards for Devon and Cornwall has celebrated local heroes in the caring sector.

Carers, Rowcroft Hospice and Ocean Healthcare were amongst employees, volunteers and care organisations from across the region celebrated at the awards.

The ceremony saw more than 300 people attend the sold out event at the Livermead Hotel in Torquay.

South West Cyber Security firm launches unique apprenticeship programme

Leading edge cyber security experts have just launched the first Cyber Security apprenticeship programme, which includes GCHQ certified courses, at Plymouth Science Park.

The course is the first of its kind in the country and its purpose-built teaching rooms were unveiled by BluescreenIT (BIT) this week.

It’s the perfect combination – biking and breakfast all under one roof. Exeter Business Club decided to add pedaling to the menu during their weekly breakfast meeting.

Three static bikes took centre stage where members cycled away in shifts, in between enjoying a full English breakfast, and clocking up the equivalent of a 40 mile trip in 90 minutes.

New strategy to reduce plastic waste gets green light

Devon County Council will phase out its use of the most polluting single-use plastic products within two years.

Members of the Council’s Cabinet voted unanimously to support to the move, which is part of a new action plan to help cut the amount of single-use plastic waste in Devon.

The ‘Plastics Strategy’ outlines how various single-use plastic food and beverage packaging and tableware (such as cutlery and cups) will be removed from Council work locations by 2020.

A mortgage broker from Ottery St Mary was over the moon when he was given the opportunity to play at Manchester United’s hallowed ground.

Travel Devon has joined forces with IKEA to help workers at its new Exeter superstore commute to work in a more sustainable and healthy way.

Discarded old bikes are being turned back into fit to ride machines thanks to an initiative in Exeter. Exeter City Council has teamed up with Exeter-based charity Ride On Cycling For All to get more and more people cycling more often.
