EDDC launches StartSmart: a new programme to support East Devon startups and entrepreneurs

East Devon District Council (EDDC) is launching StartSmart , a new business support programme designed to help aspiring entrepreneurs and startup businesses across East Devon build strong, sustainable foundations from day one.

The programme will officially launch with a free startup event on Tuesday 17 March, 10am–2pm, at the East Devon Business Centre, Honiton (EX14 1SF). The event is aimed at anyone looking to start a business in East Devon, as well as those who have launched a business within the last three years.

Devon County Council has welcomed long awaited news of more than £4 million of funding for road safety improvements on two A-roads in Devon.

The Department for Transport has announced that Devon has successfully bid for Safer Roads Funding, with the County Council set to receive £1.9 million for improvements on the A3121 and £2.2 million for the A3123. New extended bus service to Exeter Quayside

A new trial weekend bus service to Exeter’s Quayside is set to begin early next month. As part of a six-month trial, the H service will stop at the Quayside on Friday and Saturday evenings between 7pm and 11pm and on Sundays from 8:30am and 11pm. The trial service will begin on Friday 6 July. A ceremony has been held to officially mark the opening of the Tithebarn Link Road in Exeter.

The Devon County Council scheme, which includes a 60-metre span pedestrian and cycle bridge, has been funded with over £4 million from Highways England’s Growth and Housing Fund, as well as developer contributions.

Councillor Caroline Chugg, Devon County Council Chair, officially opened the road which provides an alternative route, avoiding M5 Junction 29, to developments including Cranbrook, Skypark and the Exeter Science Park.

Four Seasons Home Improvements launched in 2016 with just two employees, the company now employ over forty staff and are currently recruiting.

111 GP surgeries in Wales have chosen Microtest as supplier for their clinical IT system.

With its HQ in Bodmin and a development centre in Plymouth Science Park, Microtest is one of only four suppliers in England approved by the NHS to supply IT systems and software to GP practices.

Leading local advice charity Citizens Advice Exeter, has today released its annual advice trend statistics for the year ending 31st March 2018.

The charity has helped 10306 people directly with advice and information last year. The overall advice trends, compared to the previous year, were as follows:
