New HMRC service announced for workers to take control of their tax affairs

Workers are set to take control of their tax affairs as the government today (21 July 2025) announces a new online Pay As You Earn (PAYE) service for around 35 million UK taxpayers as HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) sets out more than 50 measures to transform the UK’s tax and customs system.

The new online service for all PAYE taxpayers will make it simpler and easier to check and update their income, allowances, reliefs and expenses, and will be available via their Personal Tax Account or through the HMRC app.

Property consultancy JLL has been appointed to market the new phase of development at the popular Edginswell Business Park in Torquay.

Following the success of the original site, the remaining six acres of Edginswell was purchased by Torbay Council in late 2018. Acting as developer, the authority can now provide leasehold buildings for a variety of uses.

JLL will market the greenfield development site to secure interest from potential occupiers including businesses locally and nationally.

Money raised by staff at financial experts Old Mill has been instrumental in helping build a brand new school in Nepal and provide pupils with learning materials.

In 2015, an earthquake destroyed much of the Sindhupalchok region of Nepal, including 475 of the 545 schools in the area. In response, Rotary Club of Yeovil launched a fundraising campaign to raise £64,000 to build a brand new six-classroom school in Shree Saraswoti.

Taylor Wimpey Exeter enjoyed a double win at this year’s Celebrating Success Awards, hosted by Exeter-based PGL Training. The business won the Levy Employer of the Year award while apprentice Lee Cole was named Carpentry Apprentice of the Year.
