International Baccalaureate (IB) results put Exeter College ahead of the international curve

Exeter College students are celebrating after achieving the best International Baccalaureate (IB) results in the college’s history.

This year the prestigious IB saw a 100% pass rate, with almost a third of students (32%) achieving 40+ points. This is the equivalent of five A Levels at A/A*, putting them in the top five to ten per cent of students in the entire world. Two candidates achieved an incredible 43 out of 45 possible points.

Honiton’s Gate to Plate event is making a welcome return to the town on Saturday 10 August.

Featuring around 50 fine food, drink and craft producers, there will also be cookery demonstrations by some of the area's top chefs and food experts who will be presenting their work in an on-street show kitchen.

The free event will continue the town’s wonderful and long established market tradition, which dates back to the 13th Century when Honiton was granted a Royal Charter to hold a market.

Devon County Council has won a top accolade at the country’s most prestigious awards ceremony for the parking industry.

The authority picked up the “best practice reporting: Customer Service award” at the annual PATROL PARC (Parking Annual Report Awards by Councils) Awards held in London.

PATROL (Parking and Traffic Regulations Outside London) represents over 300 local authorities in England, outside of London, and Wales who undertake civil enforcement.

A lack of awareness about jobs in the recruitment industry means many people are missing out on a promising career path, a leading business has claimed.

Top 30 firm, Bishop Fleming have been highlighted for their work to remove single use and avoidable plastics across the business.

RGB Building Supplies has selected Exeter-based Constructing Futures Devon as a finalist in its 30th Well Built Community Fund and it’s now down to a public vote to see if it’s chosen to receive £1,000 worth of building materials.

As part of Devon Communities Together, it has been set up to train young people in the construction industry. Trainees gain first-hand experience by working on properties purchased by Constructing Futures Devon.
