Nearly £6,000 raised for The British Heart Foundation!

The British Heart Foundation is Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Exeter’s chosen charity for 2026.

The charity was chosen by the President of Exeter CII, Theresa Atal, who is also Compliance Director for Trusted Financial Advice (TFA).

Theresa said: “The British Heart Foundation is a charity very close to my heart - excuse the pun. My father had heart issues, and my partner has a defibrillator fitted. Every pound raised, and all donations handed in their shops around the country, help make a difference to people’s lives.”

All kerbside waste collected in Devon is recycled or turned into energy

Councillor Andrea Davis, Devon County Council’s Cabinet Member for Infrastructure Development & Waste, has announced that Devon no longer sends any rubbish from kerbside collections to landfill.

Cllr Davis says that all residual waste now goes to Energy Recovery Facilities, and is used to create heat and electricity.

The news follows Devon keeping its status high among the top recycling counties in England such as Zero Waste Group , recycling 56% of household waste.

A major new UK telecommunications company bringing ultrafast full fibre optic broadband to towns and rural communities in the South West of England has launched.

WESC Foundation is inviting staff at businesses around Exeter to gather their cleverest colleagues together for a charity pub quiz to help raise funds for blind and partially-sighted children and young adults.

Sponsored by LV=, the Exeter-based charity is hosting another fundraising quiz at its Topsham Road campus on Thursday 17th October 2019 at 7pm. WESC Foundation supports children and young adults with visual impairment. A team of eleven, wader clad volunteers from Simpkins Edwards, Exeter, recently swapped a day in the office for a day on the banks of the beautiful River Tale in East Devon to support the work of The Tale Valley Trust.

Building on last year’s volunteering success with the charity, Simpkins Edwards’ team of volunteers spent two days helping to clear non-indigenous invasive Himalayan Balsam, a tall attractive pink flowering plant, which has been an issue for the Trust for the past 13 years, from the banks of the River Tale.
