Food manufacturer Paramount 21 is increasing wages for workers at its Newton Abbot site by paying the real Living Wage, the only rate designed to meet the true cost of living.

Based on Heathfield industrial estate, the family-owned company is now an accredited Living Wage Employer. The real Living Wage, currently £9.50 per hour, is significantly higher than the government minimum for over 23s, which currently stands at £8.91 per hour. Brand new Exmouth foodie destination, Mickeys Beach Bar & Restaurant, will be open 5 days rather than 7 at the start of July temporarily to maintain the highest standards of operation within the restaurant, whilst ensuring staff are well looked after. Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) is calling for a flexible approach from Government to improve broadband connectivity in very hard to reach areas in order to avoid the risk of communities “being left behind”.
