An international Ideas Festival for Business, held in London and New York is coming to Exeter, it was announced today.

The influential Like Minds Ideas Festival will arrive in Exeter in September, with business leaders and speakers from the US, Europe and the UK taking part.

Vulnerable women at risk of committing crime are to benefit from tailored, targeted support to break the cycle of reoffending and turn their lives around for good – backed by funding totalling over £800,000, Justice Minister Dr Phillip Lee has today announced.

Exeter City Council has been successful in winning £61,694 of funding, and is one of the successful bidders in six regions across the country – Devon, Lancashire, Shropshire, Norfolk, Sussex and Surrey. Overnight resurfacing work will be carried out in High Street and Higher Street in Cullompton, starting tomorrow night (Tuesday 28 March).

The night-time work, which is needed to complete improvements to the road condition, is scheduled to take three evenings, subject to weather conditions.

Higher Street will be closed overnight from 7pm to 7am between Tuesday (28 March) to Thursday (30 March), and traffic signals will be in operation at the Station Road Junction with High Street and Higher Street Cullompton.

Exeter residents' parking consultation begins

A consultation to determine if residents’ parking zones, introduced in Exeter last month, should be extended started on Friday (24 March).

This consultation is in response to requests from local residents living in areas near and adjacent to the new residential parking zones.

From this weekend residents in the affected roads will be receiving a postcard giving details of the consultation and how to respond.

It will assess the need for further parking restrictions to address the displacement of vehicles parked by non residents into these areas.

Mitsubishi Motors Exeter 7s took over Princesshay Shopping Centre on Wednesday (22 March) to launch this year’s tournament which returns to the South West on 15-16 July.

England Sevens players Tom Bowen and Charlton Kerr were in attendance, fresh from winning the HSBC Vancouver 7s, alongside England Sevens Academy player Callum Sirker, the Deputy Lord Mayor and a host of rugby clubs from the local area, all showing their support for the upcoming tournament.

Exeter City showed their never-say-die attitude as they battled back from three goals down at home to Yeovil Town.

The Grecians looked to be heading to defeat in the 89th minute even when David Wheeler had crashed a volley off the inside of the post.
