New online support is now available to help small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) to be more savvy with their digital skills. Green light for development at Power Park near Exeter Airport

On 25th October, East Devon District Council’s Planning Committee gave their seal of approval on a planning document known as a Local Development Order (LDO) for a site at Long Lane, opposite the Future Skills Centre near Exeter Airport.

Devon cheese-makers have scooped top awards and again gained major recognition at this year’s World Cheese Awards, hosted in Newport.

The biggest ‘cheese-only’ competition in the world received a record-breaking 4,434 entries from 42 countries, as artisan cheeses were delivered by boat, truck, train and plane. Exeter has been named among the top UK cities for starting a new business in 2023, according to a new study from Virgin Money .

Ranking cities based on criteria such as internet quality, high street recovery rate since Covid, employment rate and innovation, the research found that Exeter is the tenth best UK city for new business, with the city scoring highly in all metrics in the study.

Recent years have been challenging for small businesses, with an estimated 20% increase in insolvencies in 2022, and nearly 400,000 businesses closing between 2020 and 20211.

RGB appoints new MD

RGB Building Supplies has appointed Jenny Naylor as Managing Director. She is replacing Andy Gamble, who is retiring at the end of 2022, and will oversee RGB’s continued growth across the South West.
