Bridge Road in Exeter will be closed to traffic this weekend to allow essential repair works to the concrete of the underside of the Countess Wear Flood Relief Bridge to be carried out.

The closure will be in place from 10pm on Friday 28 October until 5am on Monday 31 October.

The repair runs the across the full width of the structure, and in order for it to be effective traffic must be kept off the bridge while the material hardens.

As Exeter reels in shock at the speed and extent of the city centre fire, one business is already opening its doors to stricken companies needing emergency office space. Bluegrass Computer Services based in Pynes Hill, has stepped forward to offer office facilities including eight desks, chairs and broadband for any businesses affected by the fire. Firefighters are battling to save Exeter's historic Royal Clarence Hotel after fire spread to its roof.

Crews have been tackling a major blaze, which is believed to have started at an art gallery in Cathedral Close, since 5am today (28 October).

Police are in attendance to support Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service personnel while they continue work in relation to the fire at The Gallery on Exeter's Cathedral Green.
