Exeter and Plymouth based LHC Architecture + Urbanism has pledged a year-long programme of fundraising events in aid of the Children’s Hospice South West.

Wonford Community Centre held an open day at its recently refurbished Phoenix Suite on Saturday. Jo Evans, community champion from the Tesco Exeter Vale store and colleagues from the store team went along on the day to hand out a variety of refreshments. The Wonford Community Centre is a charity that provides activities, clubs and events for the benefit of the local community. Since Devon Youth Services ended the Phoenix Youth Centre had been empty. Bridge Road in Exeter will be reduced to one lane tonight (Thursday 9 February) with temporary traffic lights in place overnight from 11pm to 5am.

The lane closure is needed while work is carried out on the new streetlights on the downstream side of Countess Wear Bridge which may need to have ‘shields’ fitted to the back of them, to ensure that the light they provide is limited to the highway and does not cause light pollution to the river and the outside of the bridge. Exeter BID Co is seeking applications from three people following the opening of three positions on its Board of Directors. These positions have become vacant due to business commitments and an office relocation leading to three existing BID Board members having to step-down from their posts.

Nominations are invited from BID levy players within Area 1 (representing Paris Street and Sidwell Street area), Area 3 (High Street North/West and Castle Street) and Area 6 (North Street, South Street, Mary Arches Street and Market Street area) to join the Board.
