Exeter builders merchant helping libraries with materials giveaway

With libraries across the county being subjected to funding cuts, RGB Building Supplies is inviting them to apply for £1,000 worth of materials as part of its Well Built Community Fund.

The fund will enable the selected library or learning centre to make improvements they perhaps would not otherwise be able to do. RGB is calling for deserving organisations to get in touch, whatever the need.

Through the Well Built Community Fund, the builders merchant has been giving away £1,000 worth of building materials every other month to different groups, including a school that supports young people with additional needs, an amateur dramatic group and a heritage project.

Paul West, Branch Manager at RGB Exeter, commented: “Libraries don’t just give people the chance to borrow books; they also act as a place that offers study and meeting facilities, the chance for families to be involved in free events and much more, making them an important part of a local community.  With many libraries affected by funding cuts, we wanted to use our Community Fund to give them the opportunity to make renovations they may have been struggling to complete.”

Libraries and learning centres can nominate themselves by emailing RGB@pmwcom.co.uk explaining what they would use the materials for.  Nominations can also be made by sending a letter to RGB Community Fund, c/o PMW Communications, PO Box 167, Bideford, Devon, EX39 9DU.  The closing date for nominations is midnight on Sunday 26th February.

From all the nominations received, RGB will narrow it down to three and then ask the local community to vote for the library they would like to receive the £1,000 worth of materials.
