Tiverton pupils brush up on artistic skills

Rackenford Church of England Primary School in Tiverton, is the first local school to take part in the Ken White Signs (KWS) 50th anniversary competition.

The children were asked by the teachers to create a bespoke graphic representing a motivational message as part of the school’s aims to provide a stimulating, happy and educational environment, encouraging respect for others and teaching Christian values.

FoodCycle Exeter serves 1,000 meals

FoodCycle Exeter, a project which serves community meals made from surplus food has reached a significant milestone: 1,000 meals in just over a year. The project, which has grown from strength to strength, has served over 1,000 three-course meals every Tuesday night since March 2016 in Wonford Community Centre. In the last year, the volunteer team has saved over a tonne of food from going in the bin and instead used it to cook and serve 1,000 meals as well as give away over 350 parcels of food for guests to take home. How local hero Marcus Hutchins was able to stop the NHS cyber attack

The cyber attack that affected much of the NHS' services in the middle of May was halted by a local North Devon man.

22-year-old Marcus Hutchins became famous overnight after he accidentally stopped the attack by activating an in-built "kill switch".

Hutchins, who works for an American cybersecurity firm from his home in Ilfracombe and grew up locally, is credited with stopping the spread of the virus. The young computer whizz kid has been acclaimed on social media as an 'accidental hero'.
