Two chefs from an award-winning local restaurant are swapping the heat of the kitchen for a demanding cycle challenge.

Matt Mason, head chef at the Jack in the Green in Rockbeare near Exeter, and chef de partie Aidan King aim to cover 200 miles in two days to raise money for FORCE Cancer Charity.

They will set out from The Jack on Sunday September 16, heading for Barnstaple via Cullompton, Tiverton, Bampton, Exmoor and Minehead.

Last night (6 September) over one hundred guests across Devon came together to celebrate Send a Cow’s 30th anniversary at a special drinks reception at Windout Barn near Exeter. Exeter resident Katie Dicker took to her specially adapted trike at the weekend (Saturday 18 August) and has raised nearly £2,100 so far for Dream-A-Way – a charity that provides holiday grants and trips for people with physical and learning disabilities. Katie, a Guinness Care customer who has severe physical disabilities and is visually impaired, completed the massive challenge of cycling over 2 miles around Exeter’s Roman city wall. Thanks to the joint fundraising efforts of customers and staff at Cashino Exeter, five-year old Elliott Angell has been presented with a new wheelchair, which will allow him to better explore his environment, increase his independence and enjoy time with his family and friends.
