Cashino Exeter provides wheelchair to Devon boy

Thanks to the joint fundraising efforts of customers and staff at Cashino Exeter, five-year old Elliott Angell has been presented with a new wheelchair, which will allow him to better explore his environment, increase his independence and enjoy time with his family and friends.

Cashino, which operates 171 adult gaming centres across the country, is one of the main fundraisers for CHIPS, a charity set up on behalf of the casino and gaming industry, which aims to provide specialised wheelchairs for children with severe mobility problems.

Elliott, who lives in Newton Abbot, Devon with his mum, Amy, dad, Dean, twin sister, Elsie and older sister Emaleigh, suffers from Cerebral Palsy; a lifelong condition that affects movement and co-ordination.

Elliott’s mum, Amy said: “Due to his condition, Elliott is unable to weight bear, sit or crawl. He currently has a specialist walker but finds it incredibly difficult to use and ut causes him to tire very easily, which is impacting on his education.”

“The Specially made lightweight wheelchair donated by Cashino is wonderful. It’ll make life so much better for Elliott. He’ll be able to truly enjoy his time with his family and friends, both at home and at school, and I’m sure the positive impact it’ll have on him will change all of our lives.”

Cashino Exeter’s venue manager, Andrei Mosoiu, said: “It’s so rewarding to know that our fundraising efforts are going to make such a huge difference to Elliott and his family’s life. He’s such a lovely, friendly boy who thoroughly deserves this wheelchair.”

Co-founder of the CHIPS charity Linda Lindsay said: “It is so important for CHIPS that our donors see the results of their hard work, and we try to ensure that all the recipients are local to where the funds have been raised. Cashino and parent company Praesepe have been amazing, and to date have donated £820,000 allowing CHIPS to provide more than 150 wheelchairs up and down the country.”

In total, CHIPS has raised over £2 million and presented over 500 wheelchairs to children throughout the UK, reaching the astounding 500th presentation in July 2018.
