New McDonald's opens in Exeter
A brand-new McDonald’s restaurant in Exeter opened on Wednesday 4th June.
Following significant investment from local Franchisee David Shawyer, the restaurant is open for dine-in, takeaway, Drive Thru, Click & Serve and McDelivery. Opening hours will be 6am – 11pm, seven days a week.
The new 104-seater restaurant has created around 132 new full and part-time jobs for the local community and features table service, self-ordering kiosks, a large outside patio area and a Drive Thru with Smart Digital Drive Thru menu boards.
The Lord Mayor of Exeter, Councillor Anne Jobson, joined David and his team for the formal opening of the restaurant.
The Lord Mayor said: "It was a pleasure not only to open, but to be shown around the new McDonald’s on Digby by David Shawyer. The technology is very impressive. It was also good to talk about the employment and apprenticeship opportunities that the restaurant will create."
David Shawyer, who now owns and operates 11 McDonald’s restaurants in Devon, said: “We are delighted to be opening a brand-new McDonald’s restaurant in Exeter and we can’t wait to see local customers, enjoy our services on offer.
"People are at the heart of our business, and we look forward to welcoming new employees with the jobs our restaurant will create. We are committed to investing in opportunities for a mix of all ages, life stages and backgrounds, promoting flexibility and equality”.
