Exeter care home presents cheque to local charity

Cumberland Grange care home in Exeter recently presented Honiton Carers Support Group with a cheque for £1,000 to support towards the cost of transport to enable their participants to attend the group.  Honiton Carers Support Group is a warm and welcoming Carers Group which supports unpaid carers throughout their caring role and beyond. They meet indoors in a safe environment twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday and socially on 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month for a cuppa and a chat. They offer various activities at their indoor meetings such as Art & Craft workshops and have speakers and trainers giving talks on both caring and none caring related subjects.

The grant had been awarded by Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, a charity that helps older people and adults with a disability or mental health problems across England, Scotland and Wales by offering grants to help people connect or re-connect with others in their local community.

The care home welcomed Winnie, Stella and Lisa to a small gathering at the home to receive the cheque and celebrate being awarded the grant. They discussed future collaborations on how Barchester can continue to support the group.

Beth, General Manager at Cumberland Grange, said: “We are always keen to show as much support as we can to local charities. It is clear to see just how much the volunteers of Honiton Carers Support Group love what they do. They are doing so much for people within the community, it is truly admirable. We look forward to supporting them further by inviting them back to Cumberland to hold pop up shops which our residents will really enjoy, too. An amazing charity! We are delighted for them to have been awarded this grant.”

Winnie, Chair, trustee and Volunteer, said “I cannot tell you how impressed we are with your wonderful home, it is outstanding to say the least, but also all of you, just wonderful. It was a privilege to be shown around and to think you have invited us back is absolutely the cream on the cake. We are really excited about having a pop up shop.”
