Sale will provide Chiefs with the 'perfect test' says Hepher

Ali Hepher believes his Exeter Chiefs side face the ‘perfect test’ when Sale Sharks provide the opposition at a packed-out Sandy Park tomorrow (3pm). With just two rounds of the scheduled Aviva Premiership season remaining, the defending champions already know they will have home advantage when the play-offs kick into action midway through next month. However, the chance to top the table – for the first time – after 22 rounds, plus the intense battle for a place within the first team ranks means the Chiefs are fully focused on the task ahead. The Sharks, meanwhile, will arrived in Devon...

Retain the Game, which is funded by The FA and delivered by the Football Foundation, is offering existing grassroots football clubs grants of £750 to continue offering valued playing opportunities in organised football.

These grants will support clubs’ adult male teams in three age...

Eight races at Exeter’s penultimate meeting of the season today begin with the first division of the 188Bet Handicap Hurdle where Victor Dartnall’s good run of form could continue with Ambion Lane.

The well bred eight-year-old has pulled up on his last three starts but drying ground could see a turnaround in his fortunes, with the Jeremy Scott-trained Gonnabegood also likely to benefit from better going, while the Laura Young-trained Admiral Blake was running a big race at Taunton last month until falling two from home. If he’s not the worse for that, and reproduces that same form...

Time for Grecians to hold their nerve

Having suffered play-off final heartache last season, it would have been easy for Exeter to begin the current campaign with their tails between their legs, but that could not have been further from the truth, with seven wins and a draw in their first eight games.

There have been blips along the way but a late-season rally with five wins and two draws from eight games sees The Grecians sitting just one place and one point outside the automatic promotion spots.

A play-off place is guaranteed but Paul Tisdale will be eager to sidestep the lottery of the post-season and put his...

City 2 Crawley Town 2

Exeter City were left frustrated as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Crawley Town at St James Park.

In an entertaining match, the hosts took the lead when Enzio Boldewijn got free down the right and fired in, before Jayden Stockley levelled later in the first half.

The Grecians then went ahead in the second half when Stockley claimed his second of the game with a smart finish. But a determined Crawley side, to their credit, came back into the game and made the score 2-2 later on in the second period through Josh Yorwerth.

Despite City creating a number of chances,...

Tribunal sets compensation fee for Ethan Ampadu transfer

Exeter City have received a decision from the Professional Football Compensation Committee (PFCC) regarding Ethan Ampadu’s move to Chelsea and are disappointed by the verdict given.

Harry ‘The Hunter’ Webb is looking to put on a show at a famous fight venue this month.

The 21 year old from Exeter will look to make it three wins out of three at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on Saturday, April 28.

The East End venue is regarded by many as a spiritual home of British boxing – and Webb is delighted to be boxing there.

“I’ve always wanted to box there,” said the former Lympstone amateur. “Everyone in boxing knows the York Hall and so many big names fought there on the way up.

“The crowd there is very knowledgeable – and I’m hoping they will...

City take all three points at St James Park

Exeter City kept up their hopes for automatic promotion with a vital 2-1 win over Chesterfield at St James Park.

Jayden Stockley opened the scoring for the Grecians in the first half before an own goal from Alex Whitmore put City two goals to the good.

The Spireites hit back through Andy Kellett late on but the Grecians did well to hold onto a precious three points.

The Grecians made two changes to the side that drew 1-1 with Accrington Stanley last weekend as Luke Croll and Robbie Simpson came into the starting XI with the City looking to keep up the pressure on...
