East Devon District Council’s cabinet have agreed to proceed with a proposal from Grenadier Estates to develop an exciting new watersports centre as the first part of the new Queen’s Drive leisure area.
The high quality watersports centre would occupy about two acres at the front of site with the road being moved to the rear of the site allowing easy beach access for water users.
The centre will be architecturally attractive and environmentally sustainable with retail and cafe units included within and a new open-air events space and other public open space outside....

Just before Christmas, three boys from the SWITCH youth club, run by East Devon District Council community development workers, came into the council offices at Knowle to work on their winning logo design with a professional graphic artist – and to collect their prizes.
The logo is for a joint partnership project where HALFF – a food charity based in Axminster – have been encouraging the young people to work together, cooking food from scratch. They will also be creating their own recipes and turning them into a book.
The name they came up with for the project is FOODtastic...
A £736,000 scheme to prevent sewer flooding in Exmouth gets under way next month.
South West Water will be constructing new surface water sewers to remove surface water from the sewerage network and making other improvements to prevent internal and external sewer flooding in the town and reduce the risk of pollution to the Exe Estuary.
Work starts on Monday 5 January and will be completed by Friday 3 April 2015.

Exmouth’s Christmas spirit has been given an extra festive boost with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree in the heart of the town.
Exmouth town’s Christmas display on the Strand has been lit up with new fairy lights and festive decorations, thanks to local businessman Marcus Di-Vincenzo, from solar energy firm, MIG Renewable Technologies.
The tree which is placed in the town centre each year is usually dressed with a simple set of fairy lights, but is always left looking a little bit bare, according to the renewable energy enthusiast.
