The Exeter branch of RGB Building Supplies is inviting customers and the local community to their Prostate Cancer UK #Shirt2Work charity breakfast morning on Friday 30th October where they will have the chance to win a signed Exeter Chiefs home shirt and a signed Exeter City FC home shirt.

As well as offering breakfast between 8am and 12pm, in return for a £2 donation, staff will be donning the shirt of their favourite team challenging those that attend to do the same.

Spooky events including ghost tours and fright nights have been unveiled across Exeter and the Heart of Devon for Hallowe'en.

Syrian children’s artworks on show in Exeter

On Saturday October 31st, while some people in Exeter put on witches’ outfits and carry pumpkins, others will be empathising with the very real horror experienced by young people in Syria.

For one day only, the Art Gallery at 89 South Street will be exhibiting prints of drawings by young Syrian refugees.

New website to help local employers fill their apprenticeship vacancies

Skills Group has worked with local company, Altitude, to launch a new website promoting apprenticeship vacancies to young people.

The new dedicated recruitment website, www.apprenticeships4me.com , has been designed to help young people make an informed choice about becoming an apprentice, and then finding a vacancy to match their career aspirations.

Road users urged to brighten up

Devon County Council is reminding road users to “brighten up” when the clocks go back on Sunday 25 October.

As British Summer Time ends, pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and horse riders are being urged to wear reflective and fluorescent clothing to ensure they can be seen on the county’s roads as the winter nights draw in.

Car drivers are also being asked to “give cyclists space” and look out for all other road users, especially when visibility is limited due to mist, rain and fog.

Devon health leaders join sugar debate

Devon’s Public Health leaders have added their voice to a growing debate about the amount of sugar in people’s diets.

Their comments follow the recent petition on a proposed sugar tax, handed to Government by TV chef and food campaigner Jamie Oliver, and the publication of a report by Public Health England (PHE) yesterday, entitled Sugar Reduction: The evidence for action.
