Tax exemption available to businesses for Christmas parties
While Christmas might still be two months away, many businesses will already be planning their annual celebration. ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is determined to bring a little more seasonal cheer by reminding all businesses of the tax exemption available for annual parties.
Employers can claim a tax exemption providing the cost of the event, including VAT, does not exceed £150 per head. It is important to note that this is a tax exemption, not an allowance.
The Families For Children Buckfast office is open on one Saturday of every month where you can talk with a specialist adoption social workers and experienced adoptive parents about all aspects of adoption.

A blind veteran from Devon will march with his guide dog together with other blind veterans to the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday for Blind Veterans UK.
John Evans, 61 from Talaton, and his guide dog Johnny will join more than 100 other representatives of Blind Veterans UK, which this year celebrates its 100 years of service to vision impaired ex-Service men and women.

The creation of a new independent organisation to run Devon’s libraries could be given the green light next week.
Devon County Council’s Cabinet will consider final plans to establish a new ‘public service mutual’, which will run the library service from 1 April 2016.
The County Council will remain responsible for the library service, but will commission the delivery of the service from the new organisation, which will be owned by library staff and the community and managed by a Chief Executive and Board of Trustees.
Chudleigh Community Choir will be performing a varied programme of songs at their Autumn Concert in Chudleigh Parish Church on Sunday 22nd November, starting at 3pm. The choir, under their new Musical Director, Jane Anderson-Brown, will sing spirituals, part songs, protest songs and ‘something from the sea’. They will be accompanied on the piano by Janet Williams. There will be a guest appearance by Esme Rowe, the talented young singer who won Chudleigh’s Got Talent in July 2015. The concert is expected to last around an hour and will be followed by refreshments.
Chudleigh’s Christmas season kicks off on Thursday 3rd December with a Christmas Fayre in the Town Centre, organised by the Chudfest committee in partnership with Chudleigh Town Council.
