To celebrate Global Entrepreneurship week (16th -24th November), Exeter’s students and business professionals were invited to an inspiring development evening of Young Enterprise.

South West Water fined £300,000 for polluting Devon stream

South West Water has been ordered to pay over £300,000 in fines and costs after polluting a Devon watercourse in a case brought by the Environment Agency.

Plymouth Crown Court heard how a combination of equipment failure and poor management on the part of South West Water led to poorly treated sewage entering the Craddock stream, downstream from its Ashill Sewage Treatment Works, near Cullompton.

The Environment Agency found pollution in the stream in September 2013 and again in December 2013 which affected a 400 metre stretch of water and impacted on river life.

A local digital marketing agency is celebrating another year of growth after seeing a 50% increase in new clients across three continents.

MiHi Digital was set up by Mark Worden to help businesses across the South West improve their online presence through all aspects of digital marketing, including website design, social media, search engine optimisation and strategy.

Rydon Farm takes gold in Devon Tourism Awards

30 November 2015. Rydon Farm Bed and Breakfast in Woodbury, near Exeter, was delighted to receive a Gold Award at the Devon Tourism Awards held at The Holiday Inn, Plymouth on 26 November.

First time entrants to these prestigious awards, Rydon Farm picked up Gold in the ‘B&B, Guest Accommodation and Inn of the Year' category.

With the festive season nearly upon us, Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, is organising a series of twelve ‘Lights of Love’ evenings across the UK for parents, family and friends of those whose baby has died.

In Exeter, the non-denominational evening of traditional carols, inspirational readings and beautiful musical performances will be hosted at St Thomas’ Methodist Church, 110-111 Cowick Street, Exeter, Devon, EX4 1JE on Friday 4th December at 7.30pm.

FabLab Devon, in association with FabLab Plymouth at Plymouth College of Art, is offering a range of free FabLab digital fabrication laboratory workshops to members of the public, in FabLab Devon, which is based at Exeter Library, beginning on Monday 30 November.

Charities donate ultrasound scanner to RD&E Vascular Access team

Two Devon based charities have donated a new ultrasound scanner to the Vascular Access team at the Royal Devon and Exeter hospital to help them care for patients with cancer.

FORCE Cancer Charity and the Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) jointly donated the machine to give the team more flexibility when preparing patients to receive chemotherapy treatment on the hospital’s oncology and haematology wards.

ECOE share offer reaches £390,000

The Exeter Community Energy Share Offer, which has been running since November 7th, closed on Thursday, having reached an astonishing investment figure of £390,000.

ECOE have been raising funds via a community share offer to install solar panels on 9 community and commercial buildings across Exeter and East Devon. A family-run holiday park has won a top accolade at one of the biggest tourism award ceremonies in the South West.

Ladram Bay Holiday Park has won a silver award in the Holiday Park and Holiday Village category of the Visit Devon Tourism Awards 2015.

Some 200 tourism companies from across Devon gathered to find out if they had won a top industry award at the event on Thursday night (26 Nov). There were 23 categories in total covering many aspects of the tourism industry including accommodation, food and drink and attractions.
