An evening of inspiration and enterprise
To celebrate Global Entrepreneurship week (16th -24th November), Exeter’s students and business professionals were invited to an inspiring development evening of Young Enterprise.
This business development event was held on the 18th November at St James School in Exeter, with delicious food for the networking afterwards sponsored by FRESHA.
The audience were treated to presentations from three of Exeter’s most inspiring, innovative and enterprising business professionals, featuring Wayne Pearce Centre Director of Princesshay, Student Entrepreneur Konstantin Deslov and Polar Explorer Ann Daniels.
The event was designed to give students with an interest in enterprise: a practical understanding of teamwork dynamics, and learn first hand experience and understanding of the complete enterprise journey, profiling opportunities in Further Education and the workplace.
Organiser of the event, Marian Weston, Young Enterprise Manager for Exeter, East and Mid Devon was delighted with the outcome of the event, ‘It was a great evening, well attended, inspiring and motivating. Ann’s presentation about her fascinating expeditions to the North and South Poles had the audience on the edge of their seats. The students were engaged and interactive, asking some great questions.’
Emilie Cole, Student from Trinity School taking part in the Young Enterprise project commented, ‘I think it was inspiring and very informative about the leadership skills and selling techniques we have to consider. We have to work hard to achieve our goals. Our team has become stronger and are better informed now.’

The next event on the Exeter Young Enterprise Calendar is the Trade Show in Princesshay, near Debenhams on Saturday 12th December from 10am to 4pm. Six local schools involved in Young Enterprise will be selling their wares and services to shoppers and visitors can also find out more about the Young Enterprise Programme.
