Stagecoach SW confirm timetable changes

Stagecoach South West have announced today that following a review of supported bus services by Plymouth City Council, there are a number of changes to our Plymouth bus network. Stagecoach will be introducing three new services in partnership with Plymouth City Council.

Stagecoach has been awarded new contracts on Routes 4/4A/4B/4C, connecting the City Centre to Plymstock via Saltram Meadow, route 52 connecting Plympton to Derriford Hospital and the contract on route 200 connecting the City Centre to Coypool Park and Ride has been renewed.

Award-winning ultra-fast broadband provider, Jurassic Fibre , has today announced that they have pledged their support once again to Hospiscare this Christmas.

The Exeter-based telecoms company, who are on a mission to deliver their full fibre-to-the premises broadband to 500,000 homes and businesses in the South West, will be supporting Hospiscare’s Christmas Tree Recycling fundraiser, for the second year in a row, with a team of volunteers.

DevonAiR Radio Revived

Many locals across East and South Devon will remember with affection, the former local radio station DevonAir Radio, which closed in 1994.

28 years on, the DevonAir name is due to take to the airwaves once more, in the form of DevonAiR Gold.

The station will launch on the new small scale DAB+ digital radio service in Exeter at 1pm on Saturday 31st December, and is currently running test transmissions.

Cycle routes being treated in winter trial

A trial to treat some of Exeter’s busiest cycle routes during cold weather is being extended by Devon County Council this winter and it’s already being put to good use during the current cold spell.

Following the success of initial trial runs last winter, more routes will now be “de-iced” when conditions are freezing, supporting the authority’s efforts to promote active travel and meet its net zero carbon emission targets.

Hotel Indigo Exeter has opened its doors to guests after a multi-million-pound major restoration project.

The South West Business Council (SWBC) will be bringing together world-class decarbonisation experts and industry leaders from the energy sector for a key conference in Devon.

Children’s Hospice South West, the children’s charity providing care for children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families across Devon, Somerset and Cornwall, has been boosted by a contribution from Bloor Homes.

The funds will be used by the charity to continue its provision of a range of on-site services at its three hospices located in Barnstaple, Bristol and St Austell. It will also help the charity further the ‘at-home’ support services, which emerged as a result of the pandemic.

UK charity Missing People, along with Stagecoach, the UK’s largest bus and coach operator, have joined together on a campaign that will encourage people in crisis to call the free and confidential helpline before they think of disappearing.

The charity confirmed that it is hearing first-hand that financial issues like not being able to pay bills, unpaid debt, and food insecurity are driving people to think about going missing. In response, the charity launched a new preventative campaign in October to reach more people in crisis.
