The local branch of Samaritans is encouraging people across Exeter and East Devon to reach out to someone they care about for a cuppa and a catch up for Brew Monday - that’s January 16, the third Monday of January.

Volunteers from the branch will be out in force, with tea bags and cups, at six stations in the area: Exeter St David’s, Exeter Central, Exmouth, Dawlish, Tiverton Parkway and Okehampton.

Business owners across Devon can kick off the New Year with free support to boost their resilience and help with the recent rises in the cost of living.

Following a successful event held in Somerset in November, the Heart of the South West Growth Hub, delivered by Devon County Council, has teamed up with Plymouth City Council and the Devon and Plymouth Chamber of Commerce to put on a Business Resilience Event in Plymouth to support local businesses in the area.

Drivers advised to plan ahead as repair work starts on M5 Exe Viaduct

National Highways is advising drivers travelling southbound on the M5 near Exeter to allow extra time for their journeys as overnight repairs start tonight on the Exe Viaduct.

Aldi is recruiting new colleagues in Devon as a result of its continued expansion in the area.

In a welcome boost to the local economy, the UK’s fastest growing supermarket is currently recruiting for 20 store roles, including Store Assistants.

Aldi is looking to hire for these roles at its Newton Abbot store in Devon.

Still time to register for charity Christmas tree collection in Exeter

Residents in Exeter still have time to book a charity collection of their real Christmas tree – and raise money for a great cause at the same time.

The service is being offered by Hospiscare in return for a donation to the charity. The suggested donation is £10 per tree.

Drivers using the A30 in Devon are advised to plan ahead and allow a little extra time for their journeys ahead of work starting on the second phase of a resurfacing scheme between Fingle Glen and Alphington early in the new year.

The National Highways scheme, to install low-noise surfacing, new lining and studs, started in October and the westbound carriageway work, between the Alphington and Fingle Glen junctions, was completed on 16 December with all traffic management removed for the Christmas break.
