Volunteers needed at Haytor on Sunday

Come along to Haytor this Sunday (8 May) and join Dartmoor National Park Ranger Simon Lee as he leads a team of volunteers to continue working on the popular Templer Way walking route near Haytor. The day runs from 10:30 until 3:30 and starts at the National Park Visitor Centre, Haytor.

The Templer Way follows the route by which granite was taken from the quarries in the Haytor area during the 1800s on an 18 mile journey toTeignmouth on the south coast.

Driver dies after crashing into wall

The driver of a car involved in a collision near Teignmouth on Tuesday 19 April has died.

Oliver Patrick Daniel Galvin, 39 and from the Birmingham area, died shortly before 4am on Thursday 28 April 2016 at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth.

Officers were called to the scene of the collision shortly before 1am following reports of a single vehicle collision on the A381 Newton Road, near Bishopsteignton.

A silver Suzuki Ignis collided with a stone wall near the Metro Motors car sales garage and the vehicle rolled causing significant damage to the car.

New Chiefs Cycling Club formed

Following the success of the first-ever European Cycle Challenge back in January, a new cycling club has been formed to carry on the fundraising efforts for years to come.

Exeter Chiefs Cycling has been formed to build on the success of this year’s challenge, which saw 23 riders and four support crew make the 485-mile route from Sandy Park to the Stade Chaban Delmas in Bordeaux, raising over £22,000 for the club’s official charity, Exeter Foundation.

Saddened and upset by discovering her dad died alone in a bare, clinical hospital room, Jennifer Turner has included local charity Hospiscare in her Will.

Here she tells how this simple act has helped her, knowing she’s enabling other local people to face death with dignity, while supported by their family and end of life experts.

The Blackheart Orchestra are coming to Exeter on 13th May to perform at Poltimore House.

Stephens Scown LLP has appointed partner Catherine Mathews to take over from Chris Harper, who is retiring, at the beginning of its new financial year.
