Councillor Paul Diviani, Leader of East Devon District Council, welcomed yesterday's news that EDF’s investment in the nuclear plant at Hinkley Point C had been approved.

He said that the Council had been facilitating a series of information sessions at its East Devon Business Centre in Honiton over the last few months for local firms interested in the opportunities that the multi-billion-pound construction will bring.

Paul Tisdale reflects on Exeter City’s “settled” pre-season

Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale has praised a “settled” side as the Grecians now set their sights on the first game of the Sky Bet League Two season against Blackpool.

After winning all seven of their pre-season matches the Grecians are confident going into the season opener next Saturday, and boss Tisdale is delighted with the warm up campaign which has now put his side in an excellent position moving forwards.

Exeter City will go into their Sky Bet League Two season full of confidence after beating a Cardiff City XI 3-0 at St James Park, to round off an excellent pre-season which saw the Grecians win all seven of their fixtures.

Exeter City’s friendly against Cardiff City, at 7.30 this evening, will be unaffected by the fire at St Sidwell Street, Exeter.

Police in Teignbridge are appealing for witnesses in relation to a robbery that occurred on Monday 25th July 2016, in the area of Bitton Avenue, Teignmouth.

Shortly before 8pm a woman, who was walking alone, was approached from behind by a man who attempted to steal her handbag, knocking her to the floor in the process.

Following a short struggle, the suspect made off empty handed, in the direction of Park Hill. The woman, age 17, suffered a slight shoulder injury.

Chiefs put through their paces at River Dart Country Park

Holne Park House and CRS Adventures, based on the River Dart Country Park in Devon, ran a two-day training programme for the Exeter Chiefs in preparation for the squad’s pre-season campaign.

The action-packed programme was centred around team-building and involved an array of timed challenges; from tractor pulling, dismantling and rebuilding a canon, to raft racing and a multi-terrain log carry.
