140 walkers united to step closer to a cure for Parkinson’s on Sunday 24 June when they took on the Walk for Parkinson’s event at Budleigh Salterton in East Devon.
The walk was one of 37 taking place across the UK throughout 2018 to raise vital funds for the charity Parkinson’s UK. Community cash boost will enable council to purchase new tools so volunteers can carry out their work
East Devon’s conservation volunteers, who support the work of the East Devon District Council Countryside ranger with practical site management and conservation tasks throughout the year, have received a funding boost from Waitrose Community Matters of £420.
The money will be used to purchase new tools to help volunteers carry out tasks such as hedge laying, fence building and invasive species clearance at nature reserves across East Devon.

People are being warned about the dangers of swimming in or jumping into rivers or canals.
The warning comes from Exeter City Council as the hot weather continues.
It follows a spate of incidents where people have been jumping into the Exeter Canal, some at Double Locks.
