Dan Snow’s History Hit announces UK 2021 tour

Award winning, chart topping podcast and online TV channel History Hit has announced a new 10 date live tour for Autumn 2021.

The tour, which comes to Exeter's Great Hall on 16 October, will see one of the world’s most celebrated history broadcasters Dan Snow taking his accessible interview style to the stage in 10 cities across England, Scotland and Wales. He will talk to some of our best historians about the biggest stories from the past as well as hear the history of the towns and cities that he visits.

Tesco Health Charity Partnership fundraising appeal in Devon shows a little help can go a long way

Devon shoppers will be able to give a big boost this month to three life-changing charities that have been heavily impacted by COVID-19.

Tesco stores across Devon are supporting the Tesco Health Charity Partnership’s appeal to raise money for Cancer Research UK, the British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK from 26 to 28 February.

Tesco customers can make a donation by rounding up their shop in store to the nearest £1 at self-service checkouts. All funds raised will go directly to the three charities.

Road users are being asked to travel with care this weekend as rain is forecast and flooding likely in several areas.

A Yellow Weather Warning is in place with heavy rain expected intermittently from mid-morning Friday 18 February to midday Sunday 20 February.

Over the three days many areas will see between 10-20mm of rainfall, with as much as 150mm falling over the three days on top of Dartmoor.

Additionally, there is the potential for shorter lived, more intense spells of rain almost anywhere.

New cycle camera trial underway

A new cycle camera trial is being carried out by Devon County Council to help improve safety for cyclists.

The County Council has enlisted the help of Ride On, the bike recycling charity in Exeter, as well the Exeter Cycle Campaign, Met Office, RD&E Hospital and Exeter Science Park to try out the helmet-mounted video cameras to capture footage of dangerous driving.

Footage of vehicles passing too close to the cyclists will be uploaded to the Devon and Cornwall Police Operation Snap dashcam portal. Since August last year Operation Snap has received 195 submissions...

A converted Georgian manor house on the outskirts of Exeter has been officially opened following its £2m refurbishment.

Not too late for over-70s to get a vaccination in Devon

There is still time for people in Devon aged over 70, and those who are clinically extremely vulnerable, to book a coronavirus vaccination in coming days.

The NHS in Devon is on target to have vaccinated all the eligible people in priority groups 1-4 who wanted to take up a vaccine, by Sunday (February 14), in line with the Government’s ambition.
