Devonshire Homes continues to support disadvantaged young people with £2,900 donation

West Country house builder Devonshire Homes has donated a further £2,900 to the William Wates Memorial Trust.

Following its donation of £1,000 back in January, this second donation from Devonshire Homes comes as the property market continues to boom. The vital funds have been raised through Devonshire Homes’ open-market sales where £50 is donated to the Trust for every sale.

The funds will help the Trust support projects that encourage young people experiencing severe disadvantage to keep away from a life of crime and violence, enabling them to fulfil their potential....

EXPERTS are urging Devon people to have regular eye checks to help protect them from glaucoma – one of the leading causes of blindness in the world.

Research shows that by 2035 the number of people living with glaucoma in the UK is expected to increase by 44%. However, due to its gradual onset, many people don’t realise they have the condition before it is too late. That is why this Glaucoma Awareness Week (June 28 to July 4) Specsavers, together with Glaucoma UK, is raising awareness of what to look out for as well as the importance of regular eye tests.

AN agricultural expert is warning South West walkers and farmers to stay vigilant in the vicinity of livestock and their young this summer, to avoid endangering lives and jeopardising livelihoods.

King Billy student flats approved again

Plans to demolish an historic Exeter city centre pub and replace it with student flats have once again been given the go-ahead.

In October 2017, the scheme for The King Billy was granted approval by Exeter City Council’s planning committee, which in addition to the student flats, would also see a commercial unit and a restaurant/pub at street level.

Wildlife haven vision for former Exeter golf course backed by residents

Overwhelming backing proposals to enhance a former golf course into a much-loved green space in the heart of Exeter has been given by residents following a public consultation.

Exeter City Council earlier this year launched a consultation on how best to enhance the former Northbrook Approach golf course off Topsham Road in the year in partnership with Devon Wildlife Trust, following approval for the go-ahead from the council’s executive back in February 2020.
