Richter engineer honoured at ICE South West Awards

A talented design engineer at Richter has been recognised by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) at a prestigious regional civil engineering event.

The winners of the ICE South West Civil Engineering Awards 2021 in association with Kier BAM were announced by Rob Bell, TV presenter and engineer, on Thursday 30 September at a gala ceremony in the Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel.

Students Take the Lead, QE Launches New Sixth Form Leadership Team

QE is proud to announce the launch of its new Sixth Form Leadership Team.

Appointed at the end of last term, the team secured their places by having to embark on a serious of very rigorous of interviews with QE’s interviewers; Director of Post-16 and Head of English Jo Cherrett, Head of Sixth Form Vicky Evans, English Teacher Margaret Moran Mylett and PE Teacher Chloe Smith.

Public consultation events for Horton solar farm near Whimple

Local residents, councillors and other members of the community have been invited to a public consultation for a solar farm north of Whimple in East Devon.

The proposed development by Aura Power is for a subsidy-free solar farm of up to 49.9 MW capacity that would generate enough renewable electricity to supply the equivalent of over 12,000 typical homes or to power 18,000 electric vehicles annually. It would save an estimated 11,500 tonnes of CO2 per year, making a substantial contribution to local and national net zero targets.

Reminder to take part in Heavitree and Whipton consultation

There is just a week left to have your say in the latest public consultation on improving streets in Heavitree and Whipton in Exeter.

Almost 800 people have so far taken part in Devon County Council’s “Local Streets” consultation for Heavitree and Whipton which continues until midnight on Thursday 7 October.

People are being asked for their views on a number of options to create quieter and safer residential roads to reduce the impact of traffic and enable more people to choose walking and cycling for shorter journeys.
