Startups Awards 2015 open for entries

The 12th annual Startups Awards – the UK’s most prestigious awards for up-and-coming companies – are now open for entry.

Sponsored by the UK’s favourite business insurance broker Simply Business and organised by Startups.co.uk, the number one website for start-ups and small businesses, the Awards recognise the success of Britain’s newest businesses which have been trading for four years or less.

Exeter opticians' fundraising drive

An Exeter opticians is hosting a week-long fundraising event to raise vital funds for the Exeter Multiple Sclerosis Society. From Monday 27 July staff at Specsavers, located at 247 High Street, will be wearing t-shirts and distributing leaflets to raise awareness of the condition. The team will be encouraging local residents to dig deep and raise as much as possible for the charity. Community tournament attracts players from across the globe

Exeter City Football Club have once again celebrated diversity in the local community by holding a football tournament that attracted players from across the globe, yesterday (Sunday 26 July). Torquay based Crispy Pigs beat Not a Kalou from Ipplepen 2-1 in a closely fought final. Ashley Dewdney scored both goals for the winners as they came from behind to edge victory. Each year Dawlish Air Show attracts tens of thousands of people to watch an array of aircraft take to the sky at this award winning air show.

The main flying display will take place on Saturday with a family fun day on the "ground" on Friday.

As well as the thrilling air displays on Saturday this event also offers events and attractions on the ground and family fun on the Lawn in Dawlish including sideshows, stalls, and ground displays offering something for everyone.

Dawlish Carnival week

Dawlish Carnival week is one of Devon's largest seaside carnivals, taking place over 7 days during August. Lots of free fun and entertainment for the whole family!

The Grand Carnival Procession will take place on Friday 16th August. The route runs for about 2½ miles through the town centre and the procession itself can reach up to over a mile in length - taking 1 - 1.5 hours to pass! The fun starts around 7.00pm.

There are many activities - many of them FREE to take part in - and events happening in and around Dawlish during Carnival week.
