Fraudsters who preyed on vulnerable people across the UK and Channel Islands, by stealing money from their bank accounts, have been jailed.
Six offenders, aged between 21 and 45, have been jailed for a total of more than 20 years at Bristol Crown Court for their crime, which involved duping more than £1.3m from vulnerable and elderly victims, including many living in the south west of England. A 74-year-old Bideford man has been convicted of murdering his partner at Exeter Crown Court today (23 June).
Edgar Fairhurst, 74, was charged with the murder of Marjorie Elphick, 83, after her body was discovered at their home in Riverside Close, Bideford, in the early hours of Wednesday 30 December 2015.
The jury found Fairhurst guilty of murder following a four-day trial and he was sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 20 years.
