Exeter Library extends programme of activities and events

Events from the British Library including a conversation with Devon author Michael Morpurgo will be live streamed to an audience in Exeter thanks to a ground-breaking national partnership.

Exeter Library is one of 21 public libraries across the country and the only library in the South West to join the Living Knowledge Network, connecting with the British Library and the national libraries of Scotland and Wales.

Cathedral drainage project announced

VITAL repairs to the drainage system around Exeter Cathedral begin next week as part of an ongoing project to prevent serious damage to the fabric of the building. Efficient drainage around the Cathedral is vital for taking rainwater away from the stonework and preventing damp and decay. Localised excavations between the North Tower and the West Front of the Cathedral will allow for pipes to be replaced, manholes renewed and other repairs to be carried out. New survey reveals South West drivers as the angriest in the UK

A new road rage survey from the car leasing experts Lease Car has revealed that drivers in the South West of England are likely to experience road rage an average of 8.1 times a month, that’s the highest in the UK.

The survey asked 1,200 people across the UK a series of questions about their road rage experiences and discovered some regions found their time on the road more infuriating than others!

Following the success of its explosive Science Cabaret production “Dark Matters”, the science focused theatre company Foot-candle Productions - supported by Daisi[1] and Queen Elizabeth’s (QE) Academy - is putting the spotlight on one of science’s unsung feminine heroes, the ground breaking Austrian atomic Physicist Lise Meitner, whose work changed the world.

One of the region’s top insurance brokers announced their next charity challenge at a special anniversary party last week.

Northcott Beaton, based in Exeter, celebrated their 25th anniversary at a 90s themed celebration held at the prestigious Woodbury Park Hotel.
