Last Sunday’s Hospiscare Jolly Good Jaunt was a huge success. A great big thank you to the many people who participated or who helped to stage the event.

403 people donned their tweed and walked 7.5 miles raising much needed money for their local hospice.

Amongst these walkers was the mayoress of Honiton Caroline Kolek, who had a brilliant day. She said: "Myself and Stephen were only too pleased to support our local hospice by taking part in the lovely `Jolly Good Jaunt`.

"What a great way to spend time with family and friends on an autumnal Sunday morning. The route was delightful; across meadows and fields, through nearby picturesque villages, along the River Otter and through copses, down old farm tracks and bridle ways.

"Thank you to all the marshals and volunteers who made it possible. A great way to enjoy our environment knowing that you are making a difference to those within our community in need of Hospiscares valuable services. We look forward to taking part next year."

Event Fundraiser, Sharon Ewart, said: “It was fantastic to see so many people at The Deer Park on Sunday, Jaunting to support the local facilities and care Hospiscare provide for hundreds of patients and their families in East Devon. The money raised from the Jolly Good Jaunt will make a huge difference, so from myself and all of the fundraising team at Hospiscare, thank you very much!”

The day was made great, not only due to the wonderful people who came and walked, but also because of our volunteers, who did such a fantastic job and made the whole day possible.

Special thanks also go to several businesses in the local community who generously contributed to the day including Tesco Honiton, Denhay, Hog Roast South West, Honiton & District Agricultural Association and of course the fabulous Deer Park Hotel.

Hospiscare is a local charity, providing free, high quality care and support to people with a progressive life-limiting illness, and those close to them in Exeter, East and Mid Devon.
