Sam Pratt spends her day managing the CLIC Sargent Exmouth Charity Shop but this amazing woman is going one step further to help more young cancer patients.

In September this year Sam will be cycling from London to Paris to help raise money vital funds for CLIC Sargent.

Over 40 tutors and students from one of the UK’s leading flower schools, the Academy of Floral Art near Exeter, are joining forces to create a series of floral displays in the Grade II listed Poltimore House to mark St George’s Day weekend.

Abandoned in the 1980s and now undergoing extensive renovation by the Poltimore House Trust, Poltimore is a Devonshire landmark and an evocative setting for a flower festival. Bridge Road in Exeter closed this weekend

Bridge Road in Exeter will be closed from 10pm on Friday 7 April until 5am on Monday 10 April for ongoing widening improvements.

The closure is needed to enable the assembly of steelwork on Countess Wear Bridge, and installation of the first few spans of a new pedestrian and cycle bridge which runs alongside the Grade II Listed structure. The remaining spans will then be lifted into place in the coming weeks.

The diversion route will be signed via Topsham Road, Alphington Road, Marsh Barton and the A379. Details of the diversion route are available here .

Organisers of last year’s BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend have won another award for the helping to stage the successful event. Dartmoor Rangers Ella Briens and Andrea Roberts are bringing the Dartmoor version of the successful global litter campaign #2 minute beach clean to the National Park again this year.

Bude resident, Martin Dorey, started #2 minute beach clean after becoming frustrated by the amount of litter on our beautiful south west beaches. Exeter College has announced plans to invest £70 million over the next 20 years in creating an ‘Exceptional’ college.
