Exeter’s Marathon Man

Peter Hawes is celebrating after completing this year’s London Marathon in support of local charity Rainbow Living.

Peter ran the gruelling 26 miles in a fantastic time of 3 hours and 50 minutes and has so far raised £1,020 for the Exeter-based charity.

Overnight lane closures on Bridge Road in Exeter

An overnight lane closure and temporary traffic signals will be in place on Bridge Road in Exeter tonight (Wednesday 26 April) and tomorrow evening (Thursday 27 April).

On both evenings, the signals will be in use from 8.30pm and up to 5.30am the following morning. The lane closure is needed to enable safe working during the installation of sockets for new traffic signals north of the Bascule Bridge, which will eventually replace the existing pedestrian crossing at the canal.

This week Exeter Phoenix announced the winners of its 2017 film commissions. Over the last three months, ideas for new short films and artist moving image work have been streaming in from all over the South West. The final six filmmakers have now been selected by a panel of industry experts to receive a share of over £10,000 worth of support from Exeter Phoenix and make their ideas a reality. The winning concepts include surrealist comedies, dramatic portraits of human endeavor and mental health, innovative animation, and artist moving image work exploring hybrid bodies.
