Campaign for Learning is celebrating the 24th Learning at Work Week this week (16th-22nd May). The theme, Learning Uncovered, is focused on raising the profile of lifelong learning at work and encouraging everyone to uncover and share their learning power.

Organisations in the South West are taking part, including Taking Care and UWE Bristol, who have planned some exciting activities for their teams.

Exeter extreme medicine experts deliver £645,000 in life-saving medical aid to Ukraine

Global experts in delivering medical training for people working in remote environments have galvanised more than £645,000 worth of life-saving medical supplies to the frontline of the Ukrainian war zone.

Council hoping for cash for five schemes to boost economy and local transport

Devon is pitching to get £75 million of government cash towards five major schemes.

The county council is bidding for the money in the second round of the ‘levelling up’ fund.

The projects in the bid, agreed at this week’s meeting of the council’s ruling cabinet, include a second railway station at Okehampton, a new town centre relief road for Cullompton, and transport and town centre improvements in Exmouth.

Devon County Council and Cornwall Council have been awarded £1.8 million funding from the Department for Education’s National Skills Fund to run a third year of Skills Bootcamps .

The Train4Tomorrow Skills Bootcamps are flexible courses lasting up to 16 weeks, that offer adults the opportunity to retrain into in-demand job roles in emerging and growth sectors. Mental Health Week: A third of employees in the South West aren’t comfortable discussing issues at work

Almost a third (31%) of employees in the South West don’t feel comfortable opening up about their mental health issues and concerns to anyone at work, a new survey shows.

The findings come from Just Eat for Business for Mental Health Awareness Week - which takes place between the 9th and 15th May - to encourage employers to provide a safe space for employees to discuss mental health concerns, including stress, anxiety and burnout.

Devon-based electric vehicle charging company aims to raise £400,000 to fund one hundred charging points

Wenea South West are aiming to raise £400,000 through a 10-year investment bond offer on ethical investment platform, Ethex.

The funds are intended to help them deploy at least 100 rapid electric vehicle (EV) chargers across 44 locations in Devon. This roll out of public chargers will enable more people across Devon to make the switch to electric vehicles, vastly improving air quality and cutting traffic carbon emissions.

Wenea are also working with electric car sharing service, Co-Cars, enabling people for whom the cost of an EV is prohibitive to rent them by the hour....

The Pokémon Futsal Youth Cup regional rounds are due to take place between the 7th May 2022 and the 5th June 2022. This set of games will decide the final teams that will participate in the finals tournament on the 18th and 19th of June. This tournament is a showcase of the fantastic club futsal talent in the UK and the partnership between Pokémon and England Football.

Consultation on Clyst Valley Trail proposals

Ambitious proposals for a Clyst Valley Trail route between West Clyst and Topsham are the subject of a public consultation which has launched today (Monday 9 May).

Devon County Council and East Devon District Council are in the early stages of designing the multi-use route, which will connect Exeter with nearby towns and villages in East Devon.
