Exmouth woman sold 'unsafe' fake cosmetics

A woman from Exmouth who sold fake and unsafe cosmetics on ebay was sentenced in Exeter Crown Court today (Thursday).

Deborah Hamber, used two separate eBay accounts to sell £25,000 worth of counterfeit cosmetic products, bearing brand names such as Benefit, Lancome and MAC.

Ms Hamber received a four month suspended prison sentence plus 150 hours of community service today as a result of the prosecution brought by Devon and Somerset Trading Standards Service.

Topsham flood repairs completed

Significant works to repair the damage in Topsham caused by the winter storms have been completed a day early..

The repairs, to the flood defence wall at Bowling Green Marsh, Topsham were funded by Exeter City Council.

Contractors working for the City Council began work on 28 April and finished a day earlier than the expected Friday 30 May today.

A large section of the coastal defence alongside the River Clyst frontage was severely damaged during the high tides and storm damage in January and February.

It may well be considered the 'acid test' for any professional rugby player, but Exeter Chiefs hooker Luke Cowan-Dickie admits he would love to have a crack at world champions New Zealand on their own turf this summer.

Police in Cullompton are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in the Town. The incident occurred in Middle Mill Lane, Cullompton, between 11.30pm and midnight on Sunday 25th May. A 19yr old woman was walking down Middle Mill Lane, Cullompton, from the High Street, towards the Tesco Superstore when she was pushed from behind by a man.

Exeter's Research, Innovation, Learning and Development (RILD) building has won a prestigious property award. Judges of the Michelmores and Western Morning News Property Awards commended the building as a "real asset" for Exeter. The RNLI has released footage today of the dramatic moment a lifeboat crew from tackled an out-of control motorboat in Teignmouth Harbour.

The video shows a crew from Teignmouth RNLI lasso the boat under their control before getting to the boat’s controls.

The small motorboat lost control after the boat’s owner fell overboard whilst leaning over the side to recover his mooring near Polly Steps

School joins tributes for young Exeter girl

An Exeter school has joined in paying tribute to the memory of a 12-year-old girl who died after falling from a wall at the Phoenix Youth centre in Burnthouse Lane. The girl, named as Nicole Hartup by police, is thought to have fallen from the wall whilst watching a football game with friends on Friday evening (23 May). Despite immediate care from Staff from the Youth centre and nearby sports centre, Nicole sadly died at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital later that night. Coach crash victims named

Two women who died in a coach in Cornwall have been named locally as Margaret Luxton and Carol Mundoon. The women died when the coach they were travelling in hit a wall on the A387 near Looe on Tuesday 13 May. 13 people were hospitalised by injuries received in the crash but have now been discharged. Others with minor injuries were assessed and treated by paramedics at the scene. The coach was hired for a trip organised by Exmouth Age Concern.
