Devon County Council is calling on Exeter to use a car club to cut down on congestion and travel costs. Through LSTF (local sustainable transport funding) the county council is supporting Exeter-based company Co-Cars to buy more vehicles and raise the number of users. By joining the car club residents can book a car when needed without the cost of keeping one on the road full time. Cars are parked in a designated bay and can be unlocked through a smart card. The vehicles are clean and have full insurance, tax and MOT. Members can use the vehicle for as long as they have booked it for and...

I am absolutely overwhelmed and honoured to be blessed with the title of Employer of the Year for the Venus Awards for Devon 2013, very kindly sponsored by Cathedral Appointments.

A warm thank you goes out to all of you, especially my dear mum who played a pivotal role in getting me nominated all the way through to my remarkable victory. Without her support and that of so many of you, none of this would be possible!

I believe the key to being a good employer is to create a secure and happy environment for your staff in the first place, so that they do their work excellently...

The Power of Negative Thinking

From the beginning we are taught by our parents what NOT to do. Don’t cross the street without looking. Don’t go to bed without brushing your teeth. Don’t talk back. Don’t get in trouble. One of my favorite books, Norman Vincent Peale’s “The Power of Positive Thinking,” a classic bestseller, inspired an optimistic...
