Public consultation for second phase superfast broadband programme launches

A public consultation is being launched on Wednesday 6 April to kickstart the next stage in the rollout of superfast broadband in Devon and Somerset.

Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS), the partnership delivering the high speed programme, is starting the process to award a contract - or contracts- by the Autumn for the remainder of the second phase of the superfast roll out programme across the region.

Funding has been awarded to 12 Devon businesses to help them promote themselves to new audiences.

Devon County Council’s Business Promotion Grant was recently launched through its Devon Delivers programme, which aims to encourage businesses to relocate to the county.

A new renewable energy league table reveals which counties have the most solar panels installed across England and Wales. The South West comes out top, with Cornwall taking first place and Devon hot on its heels. Small business owners have been warned about a telephone scam offering cheap or heavily discounted advertising in local newspapers and magazines.

Devon and Cornwall Police say scammers have targeted at least three firms in North Devon during the last week. Each time, regular advertisers were offered discounted advertising space in a sister publication and asked for credit card details over the phone.
