Hospiscare kicks off Men’s Walk 2017

Hospiscare’s Men’s Walk returns to Exeter`s Double Locks pub on Saturday 11th March 2017.

The sponsored walk is an 8 mile route along the Exe Valley Way canal path to the Turf Locks and back to the Double Locks.

Once complete, the men will be welcomed back with a free pint and hot Chunk pasty to enjoy the England v Scotland Six Nations match on large LED screens within the exclusive enlarged Hospiscare bar.

Devon charity makes top appointment

An influential Devon conservation charity has announced the appointment of its new Chair of the Board of Trustees.

Dr Peta Foxall is taking over the role at Devon Wildlife Trust. She will head the charity’s Board of Trustees, the body which determines the Trust’s strategic direction.

The Exeter raise over £16,000 for local charity

Local healthcare and protection insurance provider The Exeter has marked two years of fundraising for their Charity of the Year, Rainbow Living, with the presentation of a cheque for an outstanding £16,396.

Over the two years in which Rainbow Living has been their Charity of the Year, The Exeter organised a variety of fundraising events, including a 15-mile sponsored walk and 72-mile sponsored cycle, dress down days, raffles and cake sales, whilst employee Adrian Thorley ran the London Marathon for the local charity in April.

Staff in the restaurants, at Exeter’s new dining destination, were in the festive spirit on Friday when they wore their best Christmas jumpers to raise money for charity.

Queen St. Dining’s Comptoir Libanais, KuPP, The Stable, The Terrace and Absurd Bird all participated in Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 16th December to raise money for Save the Children. Staff dressed up in their seasonal gear to spread festive cheer among Exeter’s diners.

Each restaurant collected donations throughout the day and as a result, Queen St. Dining raised over £600 for the children’s charity...

Record attendances at philharmonic carol concert

Exeter Philharmonic Choir's two annual carol concerts at the city's cathedral saw record attendances this year.

The choir, one of the oldest established choral groups in Britain, is celebrating its 170th season.

Members chose to donate the proceeds of their retiring collection to Exeter Community Initiatives, a charity which runs community projects for vulnerable people in the city. The collection raised over £2,850.

The choir's next concert at the cathedral will be a performance of Verdi's Requiem on March 18th.

Tesco Exeter Vale lend a helping hand to RD&E NHS Trust

The Tesco Extra store in Exeter Vale has granted a Christmas wish for the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital with a bumper £2,400 donation, as well as donating £1,000 worth of gift cards to help with refurbishments of the Bramble Ward’s overnight stay room. The Bramble Ward is based at the Royal Devon and Exeter hospital that provide specialist and emergency services to residents and visitors in Exeter, East and Mid Devon. Exeter Chiefs parking initiative raises over £1,600

Exeter Chiefs and Ashfords LLP have recently combined forces making Ashfords' car park on the Exeter Business Park available for the park-and-ride service to the Exeter Chiefs stadium at Sandy Park. Exeter Chiefs run the service but have donated a generous £1,650 from the parking fees which Ashfords has put towards their fundraising total for their charity of the year, Parkinson's UK.

When a Freemasons Lodge was first established in Moretonhampstead a town on Dartmoor in 1932 they purchased the freehold of their present building.

A Christmas party for children organised by Exeter charity Dream-A-Way was given a festive boost thanks to the local Tesco Extra store.
