For decades, the historic counties of Devon and Cornwall in the Southwest of England have feuded over the ownership of the traditional cream tea - and now a new study of TripAdvisor data finally lays to rest the debate around the best place for staycationers to enjoy this quintessentially British delicacy this year.

Enjoy free cream tea at historic mill thanks to National Lottery!

One of Exeter’s historic attractions is opening its doors to visitors for free tours and cream teas.

Cricklepit Mill is the venue for the event which takes place between 10am and 12 noon on Friday 15 December. The historic watermill is home to the charity Devon Wildlife Trust and is located on Commercial Road close to the city’s Quay.

Visitors will get the chance to see the mill’s two waterwheels turning, while its team of volunteers will be on hand using traditional water-power to demonstrate the milling of grain into flour. Tours telling the story of Cricklepit Mill will...

You could host an event in your garden, a local café or even hire a village hall. Or why not hold a cream tea in your office – a great excuse to all get together, eat scones, have a chat and raise money for a great cause!

Celebrate The Queen's birthday with Lord Mayor

Exeter residents can join the Lord Mayor for a cream tea at the Guildhall to celebrate The Queen’s 90th birthday.

The event takes place on Sunday (12 June) - the day after the Queen's official birthday - from 11am until 4pm and will be hosted by the Lord Mayor of Exeter, Cllr Cynthia Thompson and her Deputy, Cllr Peter Holland.

Party raises cash for Rheumatology Fund

Caroline Parris, a dairy farmer’s wife, from Upottery, has raised £6,000 for the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital’s Rheumatology Fund as a way of saying thank you for the care she has received. She raised the cash by holding a big 40th birthday celebration and a Cream Tea party for friends and family at their farm near Honiton.

In 2000, Caroline was diagnosed with Adult-Onset Still’s Disease, a rare immune disease related to Rheumatoid Arthritis, which inflames and damages joints, but also causes fevers, rashes, reduced appetite, anaemia and enlarged lymph glands, liver and spleen....
