The BIG Cake show is looking for Devon to participate in their Guinness World Record challenge to host the 'Largest Cream Tea Party'.

To be held at Westpoint on the 16th November, participants will need to be there at 2pm for the 3pm challenge kick off.

Devon’s care homes open doors for national day of celebration

Care home doors will be swung open next week as Devon County Council homes join in with National Care Home Open Day.

On Friday 21 June, homes across Devon will be holding special events and inviting the public to join them. These include tea dances, pamper days, cream teas, live music, craft activities, gardening, cooking, a dog show and pet therapy.

Tiverton High School beats cream tea world record

Students and staff at Tiverton High School are claiming the world record for the biggest ever cream tea.

They played host to 559 guests for a proper cream tea yesterday (12 June).

The current world record for the biggest cream tea is 403 people, but an event earlier this year claimed 430.

Pupils from local primary schools, Tiverton students and staff and special guests from the community all joined in to swell the record-breaking numbers which have still to be ratified by Guinness World Records.

Cream tea world record bid at Tiverton High School

Students and staff at Tiverton High School are attempting to beat the world record for the biggest ever cream tea.

They’re planning on hosting 500 guests to a proper cream tea on Wednesday and they’ll be making sure that the scones are served Devon-style with the cream going on first.

The school needs to feed more than 430 people to break the current world record for the biggest cream tea. They are inviting pupils from local primary schools, their own students and staff and special guests from the community.

Woodland Walk and Cream Tea

May is a particularly lovely time of year to appreciate the Woodland Garden with it's azaleas, rhododendrons and variety of trees.

On Wednesday 1 May you can join TV Gardener, Toby Buckland, for an informative walk through the Woodland Garden at 2pm.

Hospiscare sets Guinness World Record for cream tea

Volunteers and staff from Hospiscare have eaten their way into the record books after 403 people sat down to a cream tea in the Great Hall at the University of Exeter, beating the previous Guinness World Record of 334.

The charity, which provides end-of-life care for local patients and their families, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year with a series of special events and the tea party, which was generously hosted by the University, was the idea of Paula Lawford and Jessica Macan, of Exeter Friends of Hospiscare, and took six months of planning.
