Used car dealers sentenced

Two used car dealers operating out of Bideford, North Devon, have been found guilty of selling dangerous and unroadworthy second-hand cars.

At Exeter Crown Court on 21 July 2016, Paul Fitzgerald John Hussey received a suspended sentence and was ordered to carry out 200 hours unpaid work and Adam George Wallis was ordered to carry out 150 hours unpaid work.

In summing up the judge said it was only by luck that their activities had not led to a ‘serious road accident.’

East Devon District Council countryside team is inviting holiday makers and local families to come and discover the rock pools of East Devon.

The team is holding four special events in August and September so that you can explore the mysterious world of rock pools with the Countryside Rangers and learn where to look and what to look for.

Pupils consider careers in the NHS

Exeter’s future doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals had the chance to learn more about possible careers in the NHS during the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital’s Work Observation Week.

Women’s Institute contribute to Seaton Wetlands

The Seaton Women’s Institute is marking its 100th year anniversary by donating a bench to Seaton Wetlands. Businesses and individuals across Exeter will soon be able to apply for their very own blue Twitter tick as the social media giant begins rolling out a new scheme.

Over the last few weeks Twitter has announced it will be launching a new system which allows local businesses apply for verified status. Verified status is displayed by the reputable blue tick that appears next to a Twitter profile. Exeter students explore Exe Estuary

Pupils from St David's Church of England Primary School in Exeter recently took a free train trip on the Exeter – Exmouth Avocet Line to join the Exe Estuary Management Partnership on a visit to the Exmouth Nature Reserve.

The trip was organised by the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership under their “Train trips for schoolchildren” initiative. This aims to introduce more children to rail travel and is run in conjunction with Great Western Railway, who provided free travel for the children and teachers.
