More towns and parishes sign up as Road Wardens

New recruits are joining the growing ranks of Devon County Council’s Community Road Wardens.

Around a quarter of town and parish councils in Devon have now either signed up as Roads Wardens or have been trained or are waiting for training as part of the scheme.

Community Road Wardens can carry out a range of duties including minor work such as weed clearance, grass cutting, sign cleaning, small drainage work, and minor road repairs. They act as their town or parish’s primary point of contact with the County Council’s local Neighbourhood Highway Officers.

Strictly Come Dancing professional dander an winner Pasha Kovalev announces a special month of February Valentines promotion.

His brand new show, Let’s Dance the Night Away, which is coming to Exeter Corn Exchange on 28 May, features special guests, live singing and involves kids from the local dance communities.

Pasha arrived in the UK in 2011 as one of the professionals on STRICTLY COME DANCING. His first celebrity partner was Chelsee Healey and they became the nation’s favourites when they were runners up to the coveted title.

Colin Wilson, Dave Eustace and Keith Hunter formed The Boys from Melbourne Street in December 2003 and have been writing, recording and performing consistently since then.

Final section of Tithebarn Link Road scheme approved

Construction of the final phase of a vital scheme to improve transport links between the Exeter and East Devon Growth Point and the city has today (Friday 10 February) been approved by Devon County Council’s Cabinet.

Councillors backed the £5.2 million scheme for the remaining section of the Tithebarn Link Road as well as the development of a new pedestrian and cycle bridge over the M5.

The completed road will provide an alternative route for traffic travelling between Exeter and the developments of Cranbrook, Skypark and Exeter Science Park.

Maynard girl qualifies for National Cross Country finals

Amelia Moody from the Maynard School in Exeter looks all over to become the next Jo Pavey after taking an outstanding 6th place at her first ever South West Schools’ Cross Country Championships in Truro last Saturday.

Killerton's iconic portraits moved ahead of vital roof repairs

After nearly 120 years, iconic portraits of the Acland family members, who lived in the Georgian mansion, have been moved as part of a new exhibition inside Killerton House, near Exeter.

Their relocation from the water damaged stairway means the National Trust can commence a vital project to repair the leaking roof and conserve the building. The paintings, which include Killerton’s largest portrait, are some of the most significant objects in the house’s collection. Blundell’s Prep pupils raise funds for blood bikes

Pupils from Blundell’s Prep School, Tiverton, were thrilled to hand over more than £2000 to Devon Freewheelers, the emergency courier service. The youngsters raised the money during the autumn term through a variety of initiatives including selling Christmas cards that they had designed, collections taken at their carol service and running games and selling second hand books and toys and refreshments at their Christmas market.
