Western Division Quarter-Finals of the One Act Play Festival

This is the Quarter-Finals of the Western Division of One Act Plays as part of The All England Theatre Festival 2017. This year these Quarter-Finals are being arranged by Teignmouth Drama Festival. Sadly, Teignmouth is at present without a Theatre. Please spare a thought for them and also for the local amateur musical and drama groups in Barnstaple who are in this case without two Theatres. Teignmouth Drama Festival has hired our venue at The Blackmore Theatre for this event. Performance times are 2.30pm and 7.30pm on Saturday 22nd April 2017. Tesco Bags of Help funding available in Exeter

Community projects in Exeter could receive a cash injection thanks to Tesco’s Bags of Help initiative. Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch the monthly roll-out of its funding scheme, which sees grants of up to £4,000 – all raised from the 5p bag levy – being awarded to local community projects. Tesco’s Bags of Help project has already delivered over £28.5 million to more than 4000 projects up and down the UK and the supermarket is now calling on community groups in Exeter to put themselves forward for a grant. Three groups in each local area will be awarded grants every other month....

Red Dwarf star comes to Exeter

Exeter Comedy Grove welcome Red Dwarf star Norman Lovett to The Barnfield Theatre on Wednesday 10th May.

Norman AKA Holly will be headlining a special one off show in Exeter with support comedians including regular MC Cerys Nelmes.

Born in Windsor, Berkshire, Norman was well into his thirties before he decided to become a stand-up comedian.

He played the original Comedy Store many times and even supported the Clash, one of the personal highlights of his career.

Television and radio followed a few years later, bringing with it the role for which he is best...

Exeter medicine students visit Cuba for insight into international health delivery

Medicine students at the University of Exeter Medical School have travelled to Cuba to get an insight into how the country delivers high quality healthcare on a tight budget.

The Year 3 students, based at the Medical School’s Exeter and Truro campuses, travelled to the Caribbean island to discover how the Communist country’s health outcomes are among the best in the world, despite operating on a much lower budget. The trip also involved students from the University of South Florida.
