Exeter BID welcomes new board members

Exeter Business Improvement District (BID) has recently welcomed two new members further widening the expertise offered in this thirteen-strong leadership team. Lucie Simic and Anthony Thomas will attend their first board meeting this month and represent Area 3 (High Street North/West and Castle Street) and Area 6 (North Street, South Street, Mary Arches and Guinea Street) respectively.

Lucie Simic of The Exeter Dental Centre situated on Castle Street is the General Manager for the practice and brings a wealth of experience to the Board.

Clinical research award recognition for SW paramedic

South West ambulance paramedic Jonathan Green had his hard work and success at creating new opportunities for patients to take part in health research recognised with a regional award.

The National Institute for Health Research Clinical Research Network (CRN) for the South West Peninsula judged Jonathan to be the worthy winner of its Research Network Forum award for creating new research participation opportunities.

Jonathan is a research paramedic with South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.

Murder investigation launched in Exeter

Officers were called to Bridge Court, Exeter by ambulance staff, just before 1.50am on Friday 17 March, following a concern for welfare of a man. The 47 year old man originally from Liverpool was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Formal identification has not yet been carried out and next of kin have not yet been informed.

Following this unexplained death detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team launched a murder investigation.

Darts Farm which has just joined Exeter Pound features in the 2017 2nd Edition of the Exeter Pound Guide published today.

Cofton Achieves national recognition

Cofton Country Holidays, the multi award-winning holiday park near Dawlish, South Devon, has received official confirmation that it will receive one of the highest accolades in the world of camping and caravanning at the AA’s Caravan and Camping Awards on 20th March.

The Community Fun Day at Cranbrook has been hailed a success after attracting hundreds of people keen to walk and cycle more often, helping in Cranbrook’s aim to be a healthy town.

The event, organised by Devon County Council, Action East Devon and Cranbrook Town Council, was a hit with families who enjoyed a variety of entertainment on offer throughout the day.

Around 160 children took part in cycle skills and mountainbike sessions – with some of them learning to cycle on the day.

A Sing and Smile charity that is brightening the lives of older people across England and Wales wants to find a leader who is Exeter-based. Golden-Oldies started in Bath 10 years ago with its fun popular daytime singing and activity sessions in community rooms led by founder Grenville Jones. Trading Standards warns of illegal skin lighteners

Illegal skin lighteners, containing potentially harmful products, have been found on sale in our region.

Devon and Somerset Trading Standards Service say that the creams are similar to products which have been on sale in London. Trading Standards officers have seized a considerable quantity of illegal skin lightening creams that were being sold over the internet by a Devon-based trader.

The creams, which were being imported from the Philippines without any safety checks being carried out, contain hydroquinone, a bleaching agent.
