Waste operator fined for illegal waste disposal in Devon countryside

Businessman Roger Baker has been ordered to pay more than £6,650 for illegally disposing of thousands of tonnes of waste on farmland near Exeter. The case was brought by the Environment Agency.

In 2016 Mr Baker imported 7,514 tonnes of inert waste on a field at Poltimore, Exeter under the guise of ‘drainage’ works. This amount of waste far exceeded that permitted under an authorisation, issued by the Environment Agency, known as a U1 waste exemption. Jump racing is back at Exeter Racecourse on Thursday, 11th October and early birds can pre-book Grandstand and Paddock tickets for just £10 each until noon on the 11th September.

Victorian families were able to enjoy their own version of Netflix by utilising an early form of ‘pay-per-view’ entertainment to while away winter evenings, new research has found.

Nineteenth-century households were able to have access to hundreds of images of far and exotic lands, comic scenes and classic novels, all from the comfort of their homes after magic lanterns and stereoscopes became available to hire.

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, will be rolling out new livery across all its Bombardier Q400 and Embraer 175 aircraft over the next six years, the first of which elegantly wings its way into the fleet today (Tuesday 4th September 2018). After months of blind tasting, deliberation and judging, the shortlist of finalists for the 2018 Food Drink Devon Awards have been announced.

The winners will be revealed at a ceremony at Highbullen Hotel Golf & Country Club on Monday 8th October hosted by food and drink broadcaster, Nigel Barden.

As this is a restaurant review you would be forgiven for thinking that I would start with the food.

That, of course, makes perfect sense but what is put on your plate does not a meal-eth make.

The ambience, the décor, the music can all make or break a dining experience, but one of the biggest influences for me is the staff.
