Devon care provider champions dementia techniques in care

EXPERTS at a leading South Devon care provider are championing a variety of cutting edge techniques this year (2019) to care for people with dementia living at home in the county.

Guardian Homecare, which has offices in Exeter, says it is important to use different methods for those with the condition and it has rolled these out as part of its staff training.

Exeter Racecourse has been short listed for the hugely prestigious 2019 Exeter Living Awards in the best Leisure and Tourism category.

Held annually, the awards are a highlight for the city, with the event a massive celebration for businesses in Exeter and surrounding areas.

Six other highly regarded businesses and organizations have been shortlisted in the same category including The Donkey Sanctuary and the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery.

Recycle Devon: Vote for your recycling hero

Communities across Devon are being called on to vote for their recycling heroes in the sixth annual Thank You Awards.

This year there have been over 30 nominations in seven different categories including Your Recycling Hero, Collection Crew/Operative and Small Business Champion.

Residents can vote for their recycling heroes online from Monday 7 January on the recycledevon.org/have-your-vote on the Recycle Devon website. Voting will be open until Friday 1 February

A free event offering youngsters with Down’s syndrome the chance to try out a variety of sports is taking place in Devon in March… and it’s looking for participants.

Owen Boylan from the Hendy Car Store in Exeter has picked up a key award at the recent Hendy Sales Awards which honour the group’s leading employees.

Owen was named Car and Van Store sales executive of the year for his work at the annual awards which were hosted by TV comedian Rob Beckett
