City-wide campaign to tackle air pollution launched in Exeter

Exeter City Futures - an independent Community Interest Company that is bringing local government, citizens and the private sector together to tackle Exeter's biggest challenges - have announced a new 12-month campaign, ‘Everyone’s Exeter’, to tackle air pollution in the city following the launch of the 12 Goals for Exeter.

The announcement comes following recent research that found that air pollution is killing more people every year than smoking.

The county’s leading food and drink organisation, Food Drink Devon, has announced its last call for entries into the awards. The deadline for the esteemed awards, judged by leading industry experts, is Friday 19th April. Rockfish, headed by Mitch Tonks, opens on March 18th in the heart of Exeter’s thriving Quayside location with the casual dining seafood group’s 6th restaurant.

The group will be employing 35 people locally in their first purpose built 2600 sq ft restaurant which seats over 90 inside and a further 60 outside and is located adjacent to the water at the Quay, so diners can enjoy great seafood and watch all the buzz and activity on the water.

The restaurant opens to the public on March 18th and is open 7 days a week from midday to 9.30pm.

Mi-space team take to the road for Football to Amsterdam charity challenge

Intrepid Mi-space staff will be donning the lycra and getting on their bikes to take on the Football to Amsterdam challenge for the second year in a row to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer.

Team Mi-space will undertake the two-day, 145-mile bike ride from London to the Dutch capital from 7 to 9 June.

Last year the team raised an impressive £15,000 and for 2019 have set themselves the huge challenge of raising a whopping £50,000 for Prostate Cancer UK. They are well on their way to this target with more than £17,000 already pledged.

Police investigate reports of stalking in Exmouth

Police have released an e-fit of a man that they would like to speak to in connection with reports of stalking in Exmouth.

The incident was reported to have happened during the afternoon of Tuesday 5 March on Belvedere Road.

The victim, an 18-year-old woman, was reported to have been approached whilst walking home by a man who made threats to harm her. The man grabbed the victims arm and made further verbal threats before leaving on foot. The victim was uninjured.

The suspect is described as a white man, around 25-years-old, about 5ft 7-8ins tall and of medium build...
